Dear Friends,
The third year of CTR’s existence is drawing to a close.
Today we provide monthly pensions to 70 seniors in Calcutta,
40 in Madras and 10 in Bangalore. Without this pension these
seniors would be destitute. Recently we received a letter
from a lady in Australia. Here is some (edited) of what she
had to say:
I
am writing quite briefly about my family back home.
Three sisters and one brother, all over 60 years old.
No pension or any support from anyone. I send them
something whenever I can. I am now 77 years old and
have Asthma. Who knows who is going to go, and when,
so I thought they could get some help. Where they
live there is no water. Food is a big problem. My
sister is 75 years old. She had a heart operation
years ago. All her P/F used up. How long can it last?
Brother blind in one eye. I am putting their names
down at the back page. Please do something for them
. . . . .

We have sent their names to CAISS to be checked out and
be given a monthly pension.
The vision of CTR is to provide a monthly pension to every
poor, senior Anglo-Indian in India. We estimate that there
could be as many as 5000 such seniors, so we have a long way
to go. With your help we will get there.
In addition, CTR sponsors the education of young children.
Currently we are educating 16 young girls, as boarders at
Loreto, Entally and from Oct., another 25 young boys and girls
at schools around Bow Bazaar. Look at some of the faces. Surely
we owe them at least an education.
CTR relies on donations from friends and well-wishers for
support. We have branches in Canada and in the UK, and, in
both countries fund raisers are organized. We hope to establish
a presence in Australia too in 2002.
Our Sept 11th tragedy has made us re-examine our values and
determine what is important. Adversity introduces us to ourselves.
While we grieve for the dead, let us not neglect the living.
We wish God’s choicest blessings on you and your family,
during the Christmas season and for 2002.
