CTR had a good 2001; its third year of existence. Here are the details:

Senior Pension Project:

We had 70 seniors in Calcutta, 35 in Madras and10 in Bangalore. For 2002 we have committed to 90 seniors in Calcutta, 45 in Madras and 10 in Bangalore.

Loreto Entally:

We continue to maintain our sponsorship of 16 girls as boarders in Loreto Convent.

Bow Bazaar:

We started a new education program and help 25 young day scholars.

We sent Sr Marissa some money to help with her education project.

Here is what we sent our administrators to maintain the above projects (in $CA, $US and/or Pounds):

Ms Philo Eaton of CAISS
Rs 216,724
Sister Joan of Loreto, Entally
Rs 118,000
Ms. Rachael Thurley of Anglo-Indian Concern of Madras
Rs 113, 270
Mr MA Twigg of Bangalore
Rs 25,000
Mr Ron Thomas of Bow Bazaar
Rs 29,598
Sister Marissa of MEC
Rs 25,000
Rs 527,592

In any currency this is a substantial effort.

Many persons have cared enough to put in a lot of work in raising funds. We have a good effort in the UK and an excellent effort in Canada. In November, Canada (Toronto) organized the third Tiljallah Relief Dinner Dance that resulted in a contribution of $5363.85 CA. In addition many Canadian AI’s sponsor Loreto girls and Bow Bazaar children. In the US we continue to raise funds from non-AI’s and a few AI’s. As we increase our commitments we need to develop more funding avenues.
